Belk to give away 400 gift cards at NRV grand opening ceremony

After a $2.4 million remodel adding 20,000 square feet to the existing store, the Belk located in New River Valley Mall will have its grand opening next Wednesday, Oct. 10.

The grand opening event begins at 8:30 a.m. , including a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 9:30 am., entertainment from 9:15 – 9:45 am. and 400 gift cards given away to customers at 10 am.

Here’s a previous report about the store remodel.

Sure hope it goes better than 2 weeks ago when my Mom tried to use one of their special sales coupons…the registers could not accept them and the clerks did not know how to fix the problem. Gave up after 30 minutes–loss of sale–went somewhere else for the clothing purchase.

I was there last night, and the renovations look good. From what I can tell, the changes include more selection, more space, nicer fitting rooms, and at least for right now, they’re staying open until 7pm on Sundays (important for those who work long hours during the week). All in all, I think they will have an advantage over JCPenney (even though Belk may be aiming for a slightly wealthier target market).
