Salem motorcycle dealer now carrying electric motorcycle

A motorcycle dealer in Salem is now carrying an electric motorcycle that can exceed 100 miles on a single charge while reaching top speeds of 88 mph.

Frontline Eurosports on Electric Road near the intersection of Roanoke Boulevard is scheduling demonstration rides for the Zero Motorcycles‘ 2012 product line. Frontline is also participating in the company’s sweepstakes to give away a Zero motorcycle for participating in a demo ride.

Zero Motorycles is an electric motorcycle company based in Santa Cruz, Calif. Frontline is the only dealer in Virginia selling these models, according to the company’s website.

“Frontline Eurosports is a well-respected motorcycle dealer in Virginia and we are looking forward to building a longstanding relationship with them. With our recent strides in electric motorcycle technology, the people of Virginia can now purchase a fun, efficient, high-performance electric motorcycle for less than a comparable gas model,” said John Lloyd, Vice President of Global Sales, Zero Motorcycles. “It benefits everyone in Virginia, from motorcycle enthusiasts to future generations who will depend less on petroleum and more on building a cleaner environment for all.”

The company says the new Zero electric motorcycle costs less than one penny per mile to operate. The average battery life on the motorcycle is 308,000 miles.
