There's nothing on their menu for me to eat (would it kill burger joints to offer a turkey burger?), but maybe I'll stop in for a beer sometime. Best of luck to them!

For everyone posting rude comments, it is quite obvious you've never had the chance to visit Jack Brown's in Harrisonburg. Coming from a JMU alum, this is one of the BEST things that could happen to Roanoke. I have made trips up to the burg solely for a Jack Brown's lunch date. It's more than just a "beer joint" or "another hamburger place." These burgers are specialty burgers - nothing like you've ever tried before. Mac and cheese and fritos on a burger? A bacon egg and cheese burger on a doughnut? How about fried Oreos? Yes, please!! And did I mention that my meal usually costs me no more than around $7-8? Before you criticize Jack Brown's, make sure to give it a shot. You'll be swallowing your words in no time!

The economy overall, with its rising food costs, and costs of hiring good help, has taken its toll on many small businesses, Ernie's is no exception. None-the-less Aimee and her entire staff ALWAYS did their very best to make this local feel like one of the family...providing a belly full of good old home cooked food, a caring ear when times were tough and a comfortable place to meet clients...all at a reasonable reasonable price. I will miss them all...wishing them nothing but the very best. This may be the end of Ernie's but I truly hope that it's a springboard for an even brighter future for all of them. Aimee...thank you!

I love Ernie's and am very sorry to see it go. Nothing better than breakfast at Ernie's on Saturday mornings then shop the farmer's market.
Perhaps the critics need to work in a fast paced small restaurant for a month making $3 per hour and then doing books, ordering food, and picking up supplies for a good 14 hour day for $25 per day--that is on a really good day.
Try laughing and smiling at the insulting jokes that many males provide thinking they are cute and people who walk out over a 5 cent increase. Eggs out for an hour, what about the times that eggs weren't refrigerated. Grandma and kids didn't get sick. Insulted by the hanging Cavalier, you are right, but Aimee took that down 4 years ago after buying the place. Yes, I hate to seeing Ernie's close and maybe if we customers had paid 20 percent more without gripping, they'd still be open and maybe Tutors too. I welcome Jack Brown's. We'll love you. Change is good for the soul.
