A second Replay Games and DVD store is closing.
A sign outside the store in Roanoke on 9th Street SE indicates the store is closing. Replay Games and DVD president Mark Tozier did not return a voice message seeking more information about the closing.
Replay leases the building, which is on the market for $450,000, according to an online listing. That listing says that Replay’s lease ends April 30.
This is the second Replay Games store in the area to close in recent months. The store on Williamson Road in Roanoke County closed in December after it cut back its hours to Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, citing slow traffic. Replay owns the Williamson Road building, which is under contract with Audiotronics, according to Audiotronics vice president Matt Hartberger. Audiotronics plans to move its Peters Creek Road store to the building. (I will have more details on that move in an upcoming Retail Roundup column). The building was on the market for $685,000, according to an online listing. Hartberger declined to disclose the sale price that the two parties have agreed upon.
Replay is also seeking to sell its headquarters on Mountain Avenue in Roanoke. That building is listed for $495,000.
Replay operates two stores in Roanoke (one at Peters Creek Road and another on Orange Avenue), a store in Rocky Mount and a store in Radford.
(I will be out of the office Thursday and Friday, but my editor will be checking for your comments. I will respond to any questions when I return.)
