Massage Envy, a franchise offering massages and facials, has plans to open in Roanoke next year, a spokeswoman said.
The franchisees, Kathleen Washburn and Gregory Baker, purchased three licenses to open clinics in Southwest Virginia, said spokeswoman Kim Ryan.
The first location will open in Lynchburg in late November at the Fresh Market Station shopping center on Old Forest Road.
The franchisees have just started their search for real estate in Roanoke and would like to open next year, Ryan said.
Massage Envy last year held an informational meeting in Roanoke to attract a franchisee.
The Scottsdale, Ariz., company had 865 locations in 47 states as of May. The closest clinic to Roanoke is in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Massages begin at $39 per hour or $78 for two hours. (Those are listed on the website as introductory prices).
A Massage Envy clinic averages about $1.2 million in sales a year, according to the company’s website.
