Here are two pieces of news that might interest our Bedford readers.
First, Virginia Furniture Market Express has opened its new store adjacent to Walmart on Independence Boulevard.
The showroom is 22,000 square feet with additional space for the warehouse. The property (formerly Taylor Brothers building supply) sits on nearly 7 acres, giving the store room to expand should it need to, company president Joel Shepherd has said.
The store will carry Virginia Furniture Market’s best selling items, Shepherd said. It is open Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Virginia Furniture Market is based in Rocky Mount where it has lines of home furnishings, kids and teen furniture, wall decor, lamps and accent furniture as well as an outlet.
The Bedford store will help the company reach the Bedford, Forest and Lynchburg markets, Shepherd said.
The second piece of news is that the Lynchburg Fresh Market is opening Sept. 11.
The store is opening at The Fresh Market Station shopping center at 3901 Old Forest Road. The grand opening will feature chef demonstrations, food samplings and drawings for gift cards.A sample sized bag of the store’s gourmet coffee and a reusable shopping bag will be offered to the first 1,000 customers.
The store will employ 90 people, most of whom will or have been hired locally, Fresh Market said in a news release.
