First Citizens Bank is going through the motions to get construction of its new Crossroads branch underway.
The bank has filed for a building permit, according to Roanoke city online records. The permit says the bank, to be located at the corner of Hershberger Road and Rutgers Street, will be about 3,343 square feet and is estimated to cost $1.25 million.
First Citizens recently bought the acre of land for $1.2 million. A vacant SunTrust bank building remains on the site, but the real estate agent who brokered the sale has said the old building will be torn down.
A bank spokesman said he didn’t have anything to report when asked when construction might begin and for more details about the bank.
