Update posted Sept. 9: Brian Broughman, of Broughman Commercial Services, called me back today and said the property that Bayou Lucy’s is leasing is for sale. The building went on the market about a week ago, Broughman said. He did not have information about the status of the restaurant. End update.
Bayou Lucy’s appears to have closed, but many details are unclear.
The owner, Yolanda Jimenez, said Friday she was “going through a lot.”
Asked whether the restaurant had closed, she said: “I don’t want to say anything more,” and hung up.
The New Orleans-style restaurant opened in October along Brandon Avenue across from Towers Shopping Center. It has closed several times since the opening while Jimenez traveled to source new food vendors, and most recently in July when the building was renovated.
The restaurant’s doors were locked Friday. The only sign in the window was a notice that Jimenez had applied for an ABC license in June.
A sign posted near the road by Broughman Commercial Services says the property is available. Calls to Broughman were not returned last week.
