Clothing store H&M will open late next year at Valley View Mall, said the mall’s general manager Louise Dudley.
“We’re excited about the future with H&M,” Dudley said.
The store, which sells men and women’s fashion clothing and accessories, should open late next year, Dudley said. It will take a year for the store to open because the build-out will be extensive, she said.
A building permit filed today in Roanoke values the construction at $800,000.
Dudley would not comment on where within the mall the store will be located.
I reported in a Retail Roundup column earlier this month that some stores at the mall are changing locations. Payless Shoes, on the upper level outside Sears, is moving to the space where Tui Na Master, a massage business, is located. The massage business will reopen outside Barnes & Noble where Virginia last year opened the Women’s Infants and Children Community Wellness Center. Dudley would not disclose earlier this month what would occupy the Payless Shoes space, but said a business had signed a lease for the space.
A spokeswoman for H&M did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
H&M has more than 3,000 stores worldwide. The company recently launched an online shopping site for its customers in the United States. The closest H&M store to Roanoke is at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, N.C. H&M is also located at Short Pump Mall in Richmond.
