I sure hope this girl is sporting fake fur. Some of us really care about such things; it would be nice if you could specify ambiguous textiles in the future.

I agree with Frannie. Fur or faux?

@tass @Frannie Fauxlover, unfortunately I didn’t ask weather its was real or faux fur. I don’t really have a love or hate for fur, my appreciation is in the style aspect of the outfit which this time included her fur coat. If I make my list of “will not shoot” fashion too long, I’ll take the risk in becoming closed minded. A closed minded street style blog would get boring fast. Sorry If I offended anyone over the fur thing, it was just to great of an outfit to pass up.

@David, it’s not *your* fault if she was wearing real fur — and if she happened to be wearing fake fur, good for her. The synthetic versions sold in shops nowadays can fool even the most ardent animal-rights supporters.

I don’t think having an aversion to fur is a matter of being “closed-minded,” however. It’s a matter of being educated in regards to the cruel and horrific lives animals bred for their pelts endure in the name of fashion.

That said, I think this is a great blog, and I’ve really enjoyed the variety of outfits you’ve shown us so far. Keep up the good work!

About this blog

Welcome to The Roanoke Times' Style Street blog where I, David Verde, will share my street fashion finds from around Southwest Virginia.

How do I do it? I go on a walk with my camera, and when I find people I think look stylish or unique, I stop them and ask if I can take their picture. Although people can be hesitant, nervous and sometimes blush, most say yes.

I make regular visits to Lexington, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Radford, Lynchburg and Friday night jamborees in Floyd. If you see me out, feel free to say hi and pose.

Email me anytime, and follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
