Lynda Scott: Stunning after 50, Campbell Avenue, Roanoke

Name: Lynda Scott

How would you describe your personal style?  “I never go for comfort, I always go for looks. It’s all about how you present yourself.”

What’s this outfit’s signature piece? “My red Jessica Simpson peep-toes.”

Where to get it: “I order my shoes from Victoria’s Secret.”

Occupation: Legal assistant

Age: 56

Location: Campbell Avenue, Roanoke

Date: Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Time: 12:23 p.m.

_____________

What caught my eye: At 56, Lynda is the total package — her amazing silhouette and taste in shoes and accessories show you do only get better with age.

One more note: notice the hemline on Lynda’s dress? I believe you should show less leg as you get older, but you don’t need to hide them completely. Lynda could easily wear a dress just above the knee and still look amazing and classy. Now that I think of it she probably does; this is probably her “work length” dress.

Wow! Classy, chic! Lyda is a present day example where her age doesn’t inhibit her sense of style and fashion. She has the total package indeed.

Is it bad that I’m half her age and want to ask her out? What a beautiful mature woman with lots of sassy style!

Funny that she says she doesn’t go for comfort, only for looks (an approach I disagree with–style doesn’t have to require sacrifice).

Because that dress looks comfortable, and those fabulous shoes look substantial and comfortable as well.

    Very nice.

@Mark, haha! No, I think its ok to date older.

@Tass, she might be referring to more to the idea that comfort is only achieved by wearing loose fitting, frumpy clothing, and stylish clothing is always uncomfortable. I agree that there is a fine line in looking good and still being comfortable.

Yes David, thank you for explaining what was already clear. What I disagree with is “the idea that…stylish clothing is always uncomfortable.” And what I said was that her outfit belied her stated belief, because she looks both stylish and comfortable.

You really don’t need to reply to every comment I make, you know.

@Tass – Just piggy backing on what you said and agreeing with you. I’ll try not to reply to your comments so often, wouldn’t want to loose your commentary. :-)

About this blog

Welcome to The Roanoke Times' Style Street blog where I, David Verde, will share my street fashion finds from around Southwest Virginia.

How do I do it? I go on a walk with my camera, and when I find people I think look stylish or unique, I stop them and ask if I can take their picture. Although people can be hesitant, nervous and sometimes blush, most say yes.

I make regular visits to Lexington, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Radford, Lynchburg and Friday night jamborees in Floyd. If you see me out, feel free to say hi and pose.

Email me anytime, and follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
