Cecily Dennis: bold colors for summer, Campbell Avenue, Roanoke

Name: Cecily Dennis

What Influences your personal style? : ” My style is just quirky.”

What’s this outfit’s signature piece?:  “My bracelet was a gift from my baby sister.”

Where to get it : J.Crew

Occupation: Government Contractor

Age: 39

Location: Campbell Avenue, Roanoke

Date: Saturday May 26, 2012

Time: 3:34pm

——————-

What caught my eye: The buildings downtown Roanoke are fairly uniform in color and give off a grayish color. Put bright blue and red like in Cecily’s outfit  and it’s like a billboard for sartorial bravery. I would like to see more bold colors in Roanoke versus the more conservative neutrals most common here. Be warned though, you can do color oh so wrong. If you try out some bold color make sure it complements your complexion and the colors favor one another.

Had to study it a minute – I LIKE it! Maybe a different shoe choice…

Wow, she does NOT look 39. You sure that isn’t a typo? :-)

@ Lindsay, not a typo! @Andy, I usually pass on folks in flip-flops but I think since these were a nice tan leather it really complemented her look. Even I like simple sometimes.

About this blog

Welcome to The Roanoke Times' Style Street blog where I, David Verde, will share my street fashion finds from around Southwest Virginia.

How do I do it? I go on a walk with my camera, and when I find people I think look stylish or unique, I stop them and ask if I can take their picture. Although people can be hesitant, nervous and sometimes blush, most say yes.

I make regular visits to Lexington, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Radford, Lynchburg and Friday night jamborees in Floyd. If you see me out, feel free to say hi and pose.

Email me anytime, and follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
