2012 back to school style season!

Football season has officially kicked off!

I’m not that big into sports but when football starts, that means school is in session and back-to-school fashion season begins on our local college campuses.

The schools in our area have a great mix of students from other parts of the state, from around the country, and from right here in Southwest Virginia. The first couple months of the fall semester I feel are the best — it’s when everyone is still influenced by where they come from and not the style that is trendy on campus.

This fall I’m I’ve added Roanoke College and Radford University to the mix, in addition to Virginia Tech and Washington and Lee. Let’s see this which school offers up the best style.

Virginia Western has an interesting, diverse mix of students.

@Tass, I’ll have to check out VWCC. Though, the community college campuses often are not as conducive for what I do.

Check out Hollins University, their student count is smaller but diversity is exceptional.

About this blog

Welcome to The Roanoke Times' Style Street blog where I, David Verde, will share my street fashion finds from around Southwest Virginia.

How do I do it? I go on a walk with my camera, and when I find people I think look stylish or unique, I stop them and ask if I can take their picture. Although people can be hesitant, nervous and sometimes blush, most say yes.

I make regular visits to Lexington, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Radford, Lynchburg and Friday night jamborees in Floyd. If you see me out, feel free to say hi and pose.

Email me anytime, and follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
