What caught my eye: I Liked Sarah’s casual look, her red shoes really contrasted off her blue pants and her white top with horizontal sequins strips was simple yet cute.

OMG tie those shoes PLEASE!!! Surley she’s old enough to know how.
Oh good grief, tie your shoes.
Why show someone that cannot ties their shows or did the photo has shoes untied too?
Hey guys, I shoot them how I find them, tied shoes or not.
@Homer the Gomer, I asked, she wanted them untied. Maybe its just her signature thing. People can have quirky personal style looks, this one is hers.
You keep using that word, style. I do not think it means what you think it means.
@tass, it is actually. Fashion is a more definable term since fashion can be categorized by country, region, season, designer or era. Trends also fall under the same definition of fashion I think since they are so specific. Style however is based on interpretation or execution, take some time research some of the most well known fashion icons and dandies, not everything they do makes sense or is typical, but it is very much their style and not often repeated. Good or bad.
SO TACKY!!! Come on David!
David, I enjoy the variety you share with us.What is fun for me is to see all the images of positive people from all walks of life.Thank-you.
Untied shoe laces are an accident waiting to happen! I’ve seen them caught in escalators before and serious injury occur b/c of it. Untied laces are NOT a fashion statement! Otherwise, her outfit is cute.
@Jessie Bennett, what’s tacky about this outfit? It’s causal.
@ David. The outfit is ok but her shoes ruined everything. Her posture is bad. She’s slumped to one side. And her hair is stringy. I don’t see style there. I’m sure she’s a sweet girl though.
OK David. Looking forward to the shot of some hiphop poser’s boxer briefs because his style is to wear his pants around his knees.
@tass, alright, I’ll give that one to you. No saggy pants well ever end up on this blog. @jessie, I see your point, but her clothes fits well.
I like the shirt
I love sequins so I really dig her shirt. I also love that navy, white and red color combination. And Sarah, if you are reading this, listen to me: Your hair does not look stringy. It looks soft and wind-swept.
Yeah, her hair is fine, that was a weirdly unnecessary dig. Just tie your shoes, kid.
you’re right, i go to college and don’t know how to tie my shoes! if i wanted to tie them, i would have tied them. what’s wrong with a casual outfit on a Saturday morning in downtown Roanoke? have you seen what most people in this town wear…
i think she looks great, you people are just haters, she can worry about her own shoe laces and doesnt need people to bash on her about it. Also clearly people are just jealous that they havent had the opportunity to be photographed. You probably dont have cute outfits to show off.
What does it matter about shoe laces? It IS about a pop of color. I work for a magazine with a recognizable name, in fashion, and have shown the photo to our editorial team. We agree she looks adorable.
Tie your shoes before you trip in front of a semi. Nice outfit.
I think she’s adorable, shoes or no shoes !
Reading some of these comments reminds me of why young people hate living in Roanoke.
I don’t personally get the shoelace thing, but otherwise I think this is a cute, age appropriate look for a 20-something/college student knocking around on a Saturday. I’d actually really like this outfit for myself! The shoes are a great pop of color.
I especially like her pants. I’ve been looking for a similar pair, but it’s tricky finding the right cut and length.
I’m not sure how I let this conversation go for so long with so many negative comments about untied shoelaces of all things, I’d like to apologize to Sarah for letting these comments over look your great outfit.
Am I the only person who noticed her gold ankle bracelet? Sometimes I don’t mention little details so you can find them yourself as a reader. Before I crop down each photo, I have a very large, extremely high resolution files. You can’t miss much looking at pictures that close with so much detail.
Sarah’s outfit is great, simple and causal, great color mix. Her hair is fine, looks like a summer beach hairstyle personally. Her posture is that way because she was laughing, aside of a little shoulder shrug she’s still standing pretty tall and straight. Like I mentioned in an easier post, she was happy keeping her shoes untied, so I was fine with that as well. Not a thing wrong with it.
I would like to remind everyone a few things about my posts.
- I don’t post photos I don’t think are worth posting. There are many photos that never make it to the blog because something is lacking something once I sit down to edit them.
- Your comments can hurt everyone! People kindly oblige to having their photo taken for the blog. If people start to say that Style Street is that blog where readers will make fun of you – which will never happen because I moderate all the comments – people may start saying no which means I’ll have nothing to post. I know you all love Style Street as much as I do, we don’t want it to go anywhere anytime soon.
- Lastly, my liking to whatever outfit is based on my opinion and point of view of fashion and style. I really don’t read magazines, online fashion sites that talk about current trends, fashion and style TV shows. I research prominent designers past and present, notable style icons, books on clothing throughout history, what goes into making clothing. The biggest contributor to what I post on Style Street is I actually attending fashion weeks in New York, Charleston, and other fashion shows around the country each year. Traveling to these different cities and just observing and photographing fashion and style on the street keeps me from getting too narrow minded on what is or isn’t stylish or fashionable.
Please feel free to make opinions about Sarah’s look, however any negative comments referring to her untied shoes will not be approved from here on out.
Way to take the fun out of a comment section and thus your blog, David.
@Holly, no. It got out of control, there was no dialog about fashion anymore.
I really like this outfit, her hair, and the sunglasses.
I think the contrasting colors are fantastic and it’s a great look on her. Whereas the shoelaces aren’t my thing, as long as she’s happy, more power to her.
I agree with Holly. Don’t overmoderate, the goal is to increase engagement, not limit it. Let a community develop, there was absolutely nothing out of line, don’t be a control freak.
@tass, I probably went overboard explaining myself in my previous comment. However, when the subject of my post comments in defense of herself things went off topic. Here is a recent post on some FAQs about commenting on Roanoke.com blogs.
David,
I am glad you’re monitoring the negative comments.
I got tired of reading the mom-chiding-teenager comments, personally. So go you!
please don a pair of high heels and walk a mile in a ladie’s shoe! Shame on you for encouraging young women to wear high heels! They deform the feet and pull the spine out of alignment. i am a geriatric nurse practitioner and i cant count the number of older women who told me they ruined their feet with heels.
