February weather brings cold, snow and winter style

The new year passed with a blink of an eye, somehow we’re already into February.

Winter has finally caught up with us in Southwest Virginia, meaning cold weather gear is now a part of street-goers daily routine.

Snow, wind and freezing temps are making boots, large coats and scarves the biggest fashion statement right now, proving people’s sense of style hasn’t gone into hibernation.

This month I’m on the hunt for bundled up beauties and gents braving the chills and looking good doing it.

Check back later today for the first photo post of the month.

About this blog

Welcome to The Roanoke Times' Style Street blog where I, David Verde, will share my street fashion finds from around Southwest Virginia.

How do I do it? I go on a walk with my camera, and when I find people I think look stylish or unique, I stop them and ask if I can take their picture. Although people can be hesitant, nervous and sometimes blush, most say yes.

I make regular visits to Lexington, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Radford, Lynchburg and Friday night jamborees in Floyd. If you see me out, feel free to say hi and pose.

Email me anytime, and follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
