At its roots, New York Fashion Week is a trade show for fashion designers to showcase their newest collections to buyers, stylists, editors and the press. That being said there is plenty of glamor as seen on television and in magazines.
This will be my third season attending fashion week in New York, I’m slowly but surely getting into a groove of how to manage the madness. Inside the venues I’m still learning how things work, but on the street, I feel right at home with my fellow street style photographers. If street style isn’t already abundant in the Big Apple, during fashion week it just gets amplified. There are fast walking fashion goers, celebrates, industry leaders and street style “peacocks” who plan their outfits weeks in advance, then find a perch within the glass and granite of Lincoln Center Plaza in hopes to become the next big street style sensation on the world wide web. Getting a good picture is easy, getting a great picture will be my challenge.
I got word that a few Southwest Virginia natives will be in New York, so I hope to run into them and have a Style Street on the Road post for you, I’ll also post what street style is trending for Spring 2014 as well as a summery from my week at Fashion Week and New York.
In the meantime, I put a few photos from the past two seasons I’ve made it up to New York for fashion week to get you excited. Have a fun and fashionable weekend!
