April 30, 2008Faith Christian School presents drama and art![]() Argh, Argh! Pirates and treasure galore at this weekend's production of Treasure Island at Faith Christian School. The drama department will present Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island , an adventure story on stage on May 2 at 5 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. as part of Festival of the Arts. Treasure Island is based on a novel narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold", first published as a book in 1883. Traditionally considered a coming of age story, it is one of the most frequently dramatized of all novels. The influence of Treasure Island on popular perception of pirates is vast, including treasure maps with an 'X', schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen with parrots on their shoulders. Plenty of pirates along with Captain Billy Bones, Long John Silver and Mad Ben Gunn join young Jim Hawkins in this tale. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets purchased in advance through the FCS Office will be discounted $1. FCS will also have a Spring Arts Festival, "Artistic Treasures" May 2 through May 15. Ribbons will be awarded for Art K-12. On Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. the choral and band departments will perform in conjunction with a poetry reading by our creative writing class. We had a previous post about Faith Christian on April 26. |
