April 7, 2008Roanoke County Public Library to host storytime and other events in April and MayThe Roanoke County Public Library holds a variety of events throughout the year. The following are upcoming events for the rest of April and May: If you are interested in Japanese style animations, you may want to check out the Roanoke Anime Club for ages 15 and up. The Anime Club meets on the third Saturday of every month at the HQ/419 Library from 3 - 5 p.m. Refreshments and a discussion follow. If your child loves story time and loves to wear their pajamas, the library holds a "Jammie Time Story Time" for ages 3 - 5 on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Registration is requested. "PETS!", preschool story time begins the wee of April 14. PETS will last for five weeks and registration is required. "Around the World in Five Weeks" also begins the week of April 14 at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Enjoy, stories, crafts, and games. This story time is for K - 3rd graders. The Library will also be holding their Spring Book Sale Saturday, April 12 through April 17. The FOL Preview Dinner and Sale will be on Friday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. The Roanoke County Library will also be sponsoring a bus trip to Poplar Forest, Jefferson's second home on Saturday, May 3. The program is called "An evening of Conversation" President Thomas Jefferson hosts Dolley Madison. A reception of heavy hors 'doeuvres and wine and stations tours are scheduled prior to the program. The bus will depart at 5 p.m. from the Brambleton Center parking lot and return at approximately 10:30 p.m. The cost is $50 for Friends Members and $60 for guests (includes transportation, reception, stationed tours, and program).
