Three Cave Spring students honored at school board meeting

More Southwest Roanoke high school students were recognized at last week’s school board meeting.

Lauren Bosche, a junior at Cave Spring High School, was named the the 2007 – 2008 First Team All State AA in Volleyball. She was the only junior selected and Bosche holds the school record for career assists (901).

Ali Horn from Cave Spring High School was recognized as the 200 Yard Freestyle Champion in Group AA Swimming. She was named a First Team All-Timesland Swimmer and was one of only two freshmen to receive this honor. She was the first freshman female in recent history, and possible school history, to win a state title according to swim coach Andy Huray. She swims with the Virginia Gators Swim Club before and after school.

Tim Smith, a senior at Cave Spring High School is an All-Timesland for 2008 in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs in 2008. He broke the school’s record in the 3200 meter.

Two Southwest Roanoke County schools, Clearbrook Elementary School and Green Valley Elementary were among Glen Cove Elementary and Mt. Pleasant Elementary as the 2008 Title I Distinguished Schools.
