Drew Lagan places second in state golf tournament

laganbuttsSMALL.jpg

Drew Lagan, who attends Cave Spring Middle School, finished second this week in the Virginia State Golf Association youth championship tournament in the 12-13 year-old division.

The tournament was held in Midlothian, outside Richmond.

In fact, two of the top three golfers were from the Roanoke Valley. Andrew Butts of Salem placed third.

Even better, Lagan is the third Hunting Hills Country Club junior golfer to distinguish himself in a VSGA tournament this summer. The others are:

* Jack Wilkes took second in VSGA Matchplay in Charlottesville
* Matt Harman took second in the VSGA Junior Amateur tournament in Blacksburg.

Both attend Cave Spring High School.
