If you've checked the results in the sports pages of today's Roanoke Times you know the Cave Spring varsity volleyball team came up short Wednesday against Lord Botetourt. But we can report here that the junior varsity team won.

Here's a report from Moriah Moore -- with photos by Quigg Lawrence:

Cave Spring's JV volleyball team improved their record to 3-0 with a hard fought win over Lord Botetourt tonight. The Knights won the first game 25-19 but inconsistent serving and strong passing from the Cavaliers in the second game led to a 18-25 loss, forcing a third and final game. Leah Wilkes and Cailin Smedley together served over half of Cave Spring's points in the match deciding game, helping the Knights narrowly pull off a 15-12 win.

Cave Spring plays at Patrick Henry next Tuesday with the JV match starting at 6pm and the varsity match to follow immediately after.
