The 25th Annual Bees Club Round Robin Wrestling Tournament was held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Brookville High School in Lynchburg, VA with non-stop action on 8 mats.

He continued his path of destruction over a Brookville Bees opponent 18-2 and then won by a major decision against Smith Mountain Lake wrestling Club 14-2 to win the Gold medal.

Kiel’s Cook improved his stock from finishing out of the medals last week to a second place finish this week. Kiel won by pins over Jefferson Forest and Enderly Heights wrestling club. Kiel lost in the final round to a Brookville Bee opponent, which earned him a silver medal (2nd place) on the day.

Logan Puckett placed 2nd in the 84-91 lb. wt. Class. Logan won his first and third round matches against Brookville Bees and Jefferson Forest by pins but came up short when he would have go up against veteran teammate Lee Pritchard.

Josh Neighbors also took 2nd

Carter Glenn took 3rd place in the 70 – 72 pound class. He won his first match in OT against an EC Hilltopper opponent 6-4. He came up short in a loss to a talented Brookville opponent by pin and a Jefferson Forest grappler on points.

Allen Young placed 3rd place after dropping matches to Quick Pin and Brookville Wresting Club. Allen did manage to avenge the loss by a decision.

Jack Cowher won one and lost two to finish 3rd and capture the Bronze Metal Nathaniel Valentine, received a Bronze Medal placing 3rd in the 75-77 lb.
weight class

Isaac Chitwood also wrestled back hard to earned a Bronze medal finish.

Zach Early, an up and coming grappler, in his inaugural tournament lost his first match 6-7 to a Franklin County kid that could have gone either way, but he did not let that get him down. He then went out and pinned kids from UNCG Wrestling Club and the Brookville Bee’s club to claim 2nd place.

Nick Brabham and Jovan Wilson placed 4th in the Pee Wee division.

Junior Division grades 6-8th

Mason Dermont finished 4-1 to get 2nd place. Mason had a 1st period pin against a Brookville Bees wrestler, a 6-1 decision over a Big Orange (Charlottesville) wrestler and a 4-0 decision against a Botetourt wrestler. Chase McDaniel (a CSMS 8th grader and former Hidden Valley Youth Wrestler) got the better of Dermont on this day. Chase got the take down, then Mason sat out, but Chase followed, then Mason sat out again – but he had his hips off of the mat and was pushing back and Chase just snapped his shoulders back and then later switched to a half and pinned him right as the period was about to end. In Mason’s final round he shook off the loss and had a 1st period pin against a Quick Pin grappler.
