This comes from Scott Ramsburg of Roanoke County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism:

Start 2009 off right, with a recreation program from Roanoke County Parks! As a previous participant in our programs, we’ll even give you a dollar to get started. Simply find the program you want to take, and mention this $1 discount when you register by phone at 772-PLAY. Limit one per family. This offer is only valid now through January 11th. Not sure what program to take? Below are a few ideas. Or take a look through REConnection Magazine and see all we have to offer this season.

Need something fun to do New Year’s Eve? Join us for Enchanted Eve, a family friendly alcohol-free celebration. We’re filling downtown Vinton with games, performers, food, fun and fireworks at midnight! Advance buttons are $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. You may use the $1 discount mentioned in this email towards your Enchanted Eve button purchase. Offer only valid at Brambleton Center (or 772-PLAY). Limit one per family.
Caving for Beginners
Adults and children ages 12 and up can join Roanoke County Parks as we explore one of Virginia’s wild limestone caves! Experience the beauty of a unique and sensitive underground environment. All eqipment, instruction and transpotation from Camp Roanoke provided.

Dancing is for Lovers
Do you like to dance to slow romantic ballads? Or perhaps there’s a wedding, special anniversary or cruise on your calendar for the new year. This is the perfect dance class for those people who like their dances slow and easy. It’s a beginner level class covering Night Club Two Step, Waltz and Rhumba.
Wednesdays, Beginning January 14
Start Smart Basketball
Smart Start targets parents who want to help their child develop basic basketball skills like shooting, dribbling, defense, and agility. Each participant will receive a manual full of drills and lessons, a basketball and instruction from a qualified coach. Open to ages 5-6 whose parent is able to attend the 6 one-hour sessions.
Saturdays, beginning January 10
Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism is operated by the government of Roanoke County. While our mission is to first serve Roanoke County citizens, recreation programs are open to everyone! We hope you will take time to explore the many great program offerings Roanoke County has to offer. If you think of a program that you don’t see offered, let us know about it.
See you in the parks,

Scott Ramsburg
