Cancer Society hosts community yard sale August 8
The American Cancer Society sends the following news about a community yard sale August 8 off Electric Road:
Local Celebrity Co-Hosting Community Yard Sale to Combat Cancer
Robynn Jaymes and the American Cancer Society have teamed up to host a community yard sale to raise funds for the fight against cancer. The yard sale takes place August 8th, from 7:00 a.m. until noon. All members of the Roanoke Valley are invited to browse and buy for a good cause. The sale will be held in the lower parking lot of the Colonnade I office building off of Electric Road in southwest Roanoke.
The sale is being promoted to the Roanoke Valley Relayers who participated in the Roanoke, Vinton, Salem, and Botetourt Relays, and is also open to the general public, both for shopping and selling. Sale spaces are limited and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The American Cancer Society hopes to generate $5,000 from the yard sale, as well as promote cancer awareness at the event.
Registration fees, proceeds, and donations collected from the yard sale will support the American Cancer Society both locally and nationally. By 2015, the Society aims to prevent close to five million additional deaths from cancer, avoid six million new cancer diagnoses, and measurably improve the quality of life for those who have cancer. Community support is bringing us closer to realizing these challenging goals.
If you would like to be a part of the yard sale, either by volunteering, donating items, and/or selling merchandise, or if you would like more information, please contact the American Cancer Society office at (540) 774-2716.
