Blue Buddies Class at Childcare Network raises money for child in Florida
The Childcare Network “Blue Buddies” class held their third annual Lemonade Stand on Wednesday, August 19. from 3 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Childcare Network on Brambleton.
“Unlike the last two years, this year we are doing it as a fundraiser for a little girl named “Emma Bush” who attends one of our other Childcare Networks in Florida. Emily was accidently given a Sulfur based antibiotic after a bug bite and now has “Steven Johnson’s Syndrome”. 80% of her body is covered in blisters, including her intestines, and her single mother had to quit work to be with her in the hospital. They have no insurance. When my boys and girls heard about how she has to have her skin scraped and scrubbed, they wanted to do something to help. After a vote, we’re donating our funds raised to her,” Rob McGough, Blue Buddies Class teacher said.
The kids learned how to make change and how to greet and thank customers.

“When I read it to the children, they all agreed that we should donate our Lemonade Stand money to her family to help with bills. They had a great time selling the lemonade, and were excited to see the money coming in, but you should have heard the emotion in their voice when they told others about little Emma. I’m so proud of my 5-7 year old Blue Buddies! We’ve given the money to our District manager who will forward it on to our Florida center where Emma attended,” McGough said.
