Martha Scott, author of ‘What Cheer, What Cheer,’ says the Cardinal! visit the Tanglewood Barnes & Noble on Saturday, August 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Scott’s book is written in rhyme and it about ten different birds that are native to our area. Throughout the book Scott gives references to the birds for general knowledge.
“A lot of adults that read the book say they learn a lot that they didn’t know about birds,” Scott said.
This is Scott’s first published book, which was written in the summer of 2007. It started being published in January of 2008 and was released in January 2009.
“I love all kinds of birds,” Scott said. She said she wrote the book in memory of her friends, Mrs. Erma Colley McKenzie, who got her interested in birds.
Scott is currently working on getting another book published. The book is about Honey Bees, called ‘Honey Bee, Where are you?’ that deals with the crisis of honey bees disappearing. The book also gives information about bees and what they do and why they are important to our world.
She is currently writing a book about Sea Turtles.
Scott is from Patrick County where she has lived all her life and teaches school in Floyd.
