Do you have snapshots of Thanksgiving? We’d love to share them here on The Notebook and in SWoCo. Send to news@swo.co-com.

Haran Baptist Church participates in Operation Christmas Child

Haran Baptist Church recently decided to give a little this holiday season and they decided to do it this year, through a well-known organization called Operation Christmas Child.  Sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, the Haran Baptist Church WOM group was able to collect over 100 shoe boxes which will be sent to children all around the world who are less fortunate and who may have never received a gift before.

“I just would like to mention the fact that we were able to collect over 100 boxes (107 to be exact) through an effort headed up by our WOM group. They headed the drive, made sure each box had the appropriate donation and then delivered them to the drop off point in West Salem,” Pastor Mike Anderson said.

These shoe boxes were filled with much needed supplies for the children like, crayons, coloring books, brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hard candy, headbands, toys, dolls, hygiene items, gum, t-shirts, watches, flashlights, batteries, a personal note, and much more.

Since 1993 Operation Christmas Child has distributed 61 million shoe box gifts to boys and girls in 130 countries. Last year alone, Operation Christmas Child collected 7.6 million shoe box gifts.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Photo: David Baldacci had book signing at Barnes and Noble

David Baldacci spoke for 20 Minutes, sharing humorous anecdotes about his recent travels promoting his  Latest novel “True Blue”.  The New York Times best selling mystery author went on to answered many questions from the standing room only crowd. After which, Mr Baldacci happily posed for photos with his ardent and avid Supporters and patiently signed as many copies as one could carry. I myself had two of Mr. Baldacci`s previous works along with his latest best seller  “True Blue,” all of which left with personal notes and signature. Thank you again.
