Structures co-founder becoming internationally recognized for expertise in Passivhaus construction
Upcoming presentations to focus on Rocky Mount school
Adam Cohen, co-founder of Structures Design Build, has been selected to share his expertise in Passivhaus construction at three major upcoming conferences.
Passivhaus is the German term for construction that meets high standards in energy efficiency. The technology uses 90 percent less energy for heating and cooling than a conventional building.
At the National Solar Conference on May 18, Cohen will share his experiences building the Center for Energy Efficient Design in Rocky Mount, the first public school building in the United States with Passivhaus technology. “Making the grade: Design and construction of the first U.S. Passivhaus public school” is the name of his presentation in Raleigh, N.C.
Cohen will talk about the same project May 28 at the International Passivhaus Conference in Innsbruk, Austria. He continues the speaking circuit in Seattle at the Passive House Northwest Conference to present “Technical Design of Commercial Passivhaus Buildings.”
Structures is the only architectural firm and design/ builder in the region with expertise, training, and experience in this technology.
“It’s an honor to be among the world’s leading experts in construction that could save owners thousands of dollars every year in energy costs,” Cohen says.
