Photos: FYA Monthly Forum on fibromyalgia

On Thursday, July 21, Carol L. Via with VAMC Center Home Base Primary Care spoke to attendees of the FYA Monthly Forum about fibromyalgia.

A disease with which she personally struggles, Via discussed the history of the disease, the symptoms and population at risk and the trouble most patients have in getting a diagnosis from their doctors. Via also mentioned pain management plans, including pharmacological regimens and non-pharmacological plans like yoga and better sleep schedules.

FYA Monthly Forums are sponsored by Generation Solutions, Our Lady of the Valley, the Roanoke County Public Library, VABizic.com and the Local Office on Aging.

The next FYA Monthly Forum will be held on Thursday, August 18. The discussion on arthritis will be led by Emily Long, Associate Director for Health and Wellness at the Arthritis Foundation, Mid Atlantic Region.
