Roanoke 9/11 Rememberance Ceremony on Sunday, September 11
The Public Safety Departments of the Roanoke Valley invite you to attend a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, September 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Market Square in Downtown Roanoke.
From 4 to 5 p.m., public safety departments from the Roanoke Valley and beyond will showcase safety equipment and 9/11 memorial displays on downtown streets near Market Square.
At 5 p.m., the formal remembrance ceremony will begin, featuring keynote speaker U.S. Congressman Bob Goodlatte, along with a Roanoke Valley joint color guard presentation of colors, a tolling of the bell for those lost on September 11, 2001, patriotic musical performances and more.
Free parking is available in city garages, including Market Garage, located at 25 Church Avenue, and Tower Garage, located at 10 S. Jefferson Street. The Center in the Square Garage will not be accessible to the public. For more downtown parking information, please visit www.roanokeva.gov/parking.
The event will be held rain or shine, with a rain location at the Roanoke Civic Center.
