The Yard Dawgs Unleashed 10U boys baseball team finished a recent USSSA baseball tournament in Covington with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss for the weekend.  The points earned now has the team ranked as #4 in the state.

99 years young

Elm Park Estates, Roanoke’s home for gracious independent retirement living for over 21 years, recently hosted a Celebration of 99 Years of Life for resident Betty Sherrard.  Betty turned 99 years young on September 29, 2011.  Even though Betty is the senior of all seniors at Elm Park Estates, she remains very active and is a regular at card games and bingo.  Her favorite pastime is playing pocket billiards and even at age 99, she can truthfully claim to be Elm Park Estates’ “Queen of the Cue Stick” as any of her opponents and fellow residents can attest.  Betty has resided at the community for 9 years.  Happy 99 Betty, you are much loved by many!

A cold front is blowing in Friday. It will get breezy Friday night with temperatures falling into the 50s during the games. There is a slight chance of showers, but they should be short-lived if they occur.

Colonial Presbyterian Church will host a Holiday Gift Bazaar on Saturday, November 5th, from 9:00am – 2:00pm. Local vendors and crafters will be selling their wares, along with crafts donated by church members and a SERRV International fair trade sale. There will also be baked goods, snacks and lunch concessions for sale. This is a great opportunity to get all your Christmas shopping done in one place. Everyone is welcome to attend!
