Traci Walters, former gymnastics coach at the Roanoke Academy of Gymnastics, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and is currently receiving hospice care at her home.
As a show of support for their former coach, the girls at Roanoke Academy “flocked” for Traci during the month of August, concluding their ambushes with pink plastic flamingo lawn ornaments on Labor Day.
Misty Hodges shares these photos from the summer.
“Traci is upbeat and enthusiastic. Tammy [Morstad, who began Flocking for Traci] wanted to find something that matched her personality,” Hodges said. “She’s put up a very valiant fight. It hasn’t slowed her down.”
“She’s given so much to the community; it’s nice to see the community respond so warmly,” Hodges continued.
