CSHS sent Kendall Bayne off for surgery in style; surgery was successful

Cave Spring High School hosted a send off for sophomore Kendall Bayne when she left for her surgery, which took place on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011. Students and faculty members came together outside of the school to release purple balloons and to wish Kendall well.

According to regular updates from Kendall’s father Jere Bayne on the family’s website, Kendall’s surgery went well.

“The [doctor] was able to remove all of the nodules in her left lung,” wrote Jere the day of the surgery. “Fortunately there was no other disease detected during her surgery.”

Kendall was released from the hospital on Nov. 2 after a clean x-ray, and will return to Duke in a few weeks for a follow up appointment, according to the Baynes’ website.

“For all of you supporting Team Kendall, we felt your presence with us in our time of need,” Jere wrote on the family website on Nov. 2. “It is so comforting to know we are not alone in this fight. God Bless you all. It’s because of your encouragement that we are able to stay strong and Fight Like A Knight.”
