The ladies at the SunTrust in-store Kroger branch are planning a fundraiser to support their March for Babies team. The Roanoke Valley March for Babies walk will take place Sunday, May 6, at the Salem Civic Center, and all area SunTrust teams are participating as part of their Solid Gives Back initiative.
This branch decided to think outside the box when it came to creative fundraising ideas. They are capitalizing on Branch Manager Sherry Minnix’s skills as an experienced cook—her passion outside of her day job as a bank branch manager. They will be hosting two separate events where they’ll be selling baked goods and full to-go meals costing only $5 per plate.
On Friday, March 23 from 4 to 7 p.m., the SunTrust team at Cave Spring Kroger will be selling pasta dinners with Minnix’s homemade sauce. On Saturday, March 31 from 11to 2 p.m., they will be serving her famous pulled pork BBQ sandwiches with Mac ‘n Cheese. Both meals come with a drink and all proceeds benefit the March of Dimes. Take home a delicious meal and support SunTrust in their efforts to make all babies be born healthy!
Minnix has an interesting story: her grandfather was a butcher and her husband hunts deer, so preparing pulled pork BBQ comes naturally to her. Her food has a following, after hosting what began as small gatherings around the holidays with first her bank branch and then the Kroger employees at the Cave Spring Kroger store. Sherry says of her employees and friends, “They all tell me to go into business for myself. I love to cook.”
The branch plans to sell 100 plates of food at each in store event. The March of Dimes appreciates their support. For more information, Sherry Minnix can be reached at the SunTrust Bank, Cave Spring Kroger branch by calling 540-772-8165.
