HVHS cheerleading to host sports physical clinic on Wednesday, May 9

The HVHS Sports Physical Clinic for the 2012 – 2013 school year, hosted by the HVHS Cheerleading Program, is Wednesday, May 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. Physicals are $10 per student (checks may be written to HVHS Booster/Cheer).

The following are very important requirements that need to be met or that student will not be allowed to get a physical:

  • HVHS athletes must completely fill out pages one, two and four (including the insurance portion on page four). You will only fill out the Name, DOB and School on page three. Parents must sign pages two and four. All of this is mandatory.
  • All other athletes must fill out all of page one and two. On page four, you can fill out the insurance portion later before giving it to your own school. You will only fill out the Name, DOB and School on page three. Parents must sign pages two and four. All of this is mandatory.

Click here for the Feb 2012 updated VHSL physical form. You must have this updated physical form that has the Feb 2012 in the top left corner. All others will not be accepted.

Spring Fling at Penn Forest Elementary School coming up on May 8

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Spring Fling at Penn Forest Elementary!  May 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the Penn Forest Playground.

Loads of fun and fellowship with your friends at Penn Forest.  Pack your lawn chairs and blankets, pack a dinner or buy one when you get  there. All the fun is free!

Penn Forest PTA sponsors this event so there is nothing to pay for (unless you are buying your dinner)!  Much more info to come as it gets closer – but put the date on your calendar now!

Bent Mountain Woman’s Club to host annual Yard and Bake Sale on May 12

The Bent Mountain Woman’s Club will hold its annual Yard and Bake Sale at King’s Fruit Market, 9513 Bent Mountain Road on May 12, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proceeds from this event will be used to fund the club’s scholarship and community projects.

World Asthma Day is Tuesday, May 1

World Asthma Day in the Roanoke Valley will kick off with a Proclamation at 9 a.m. at the Crystal Springs Medical Office Building, located at 2001 Crystal Springs Ave. in Roanoke. There will be free spirometry testing and consultations. Asthma educational materials are available at an exhibit from 9 a.m. to noon.

Also, between 9 a.m. to noon each day May 1-4 is Crystal Springs MOB Pharmacy. Pharmacists will be available for consultations and written asthma control assessments, educational materials will also be available.
