Back Creek Civic League meeting Monday, April 16

Meeting will cover topics like the Route 221 improvements, the new Roanoke County communication system and avoiding identity theft and scam calls

The Back Creek Civic League meeting will be held on Monday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at Back Creek Fire Station No. 11. Our President, Genny Henderson, has lined up several speakers:

  • Teresa Hamilton Hall and Gray Craig of Roanoke County Information Office and Eric Orange, Roanoke County Police Department: Update on county’s new communications system, especially emergency alerts.
  • Faye Sensabaugh, Director of Investigations for Better Business Bureau: What can citizens do to avoid identity theft or being trapped into “scam calls”.
  • VDOT Representative Jeff Echols: Status of 221 improvements and follow-up on our April 2011 request for needed repairs to several of our secondary roads.

These are all topics important to each member of our Civic League, and we know you will want to be present.

Last year we talked about the need to compile Back Creek History.  Bring your ideas, pictures, stories, etc. that you might have to the meeting.

2012 DUES:  If you haven’t paid your dues ($5 per member, $10 per household), you can pay Treasurer Joe  Doby, or mail to him at P.O.Box 20996, Roanoke, VA  24018.

As always come to enjoy the fellowship and refreshments!
