Ceremonial tree planting at Penn Forest Elementary is Thursday, April 26

From the Roanoke County website:

The County of Roanoke is planning to hold its 2012 Arbor Day Celebration on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Penn Forest Elementary School (6328 Merriman Road). The celebration will include a ceremonial tree planting, a presentation by the Virginia Department of Forestry on the importance of trees, and a presentation by students from Penn Forest Elementary School. The Valley Beautiful Foundation is sponsoring the planting of eight (8) serviceberry, seven (7) eastern redbud, and four (4) white oak trees around the building, near the roundabout, and along the pedestrian paths at Penn Forest Elementary School. Among those invited to the ceremony are Roanoke County officials, Roanoke County School Board members, administrators and staff, and parents of the students who will be involved in the program. An invitation will also be extended to members of the Valley Beautiful Foundation, the Virginia Department of Forestry and the local media.
