Photos (and video!): HVMS and CSMS host Spring Band Concert on Wednesday, May 9

The Cave Spring and Hidden Valley Middle School seventh and eighth grade bands performed their spring band concert on Wednesday, May 9 at Cave Spring High School. Each band performed a few songs and announced the students who made All District Honor Band.

HVMS 7th Grade Band

The band, conducted by Melinda Server and Ashley Bowyer, performed three songs: “Valley Vista March,” “Jungle Dance” and “Disco Lives.”

All District Band members are Caroline Sublett (clarinet), Emma Cummings (French horn) and Gabe Maslich (baritone).

CSMS 7th Grade Band

The band, conducted by Rick Elliott and Melinda Sarver, performed “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “Firework” by Katy Perry and “Ash Lawn Echoes.”

All District Band member is Jacob Quakenbush (baritone).

CSMS 8th Grade Band

The band, conducted by Melinda Sarver (usual director Brian Quakenbush was ill), performed “Into the Clouds,” “The Great Locomotive Chase,” “He’s a Pirate” and music from the movie “Cars.”

All District Band members are Lidya Tadesse (flute), Robin Boch (clarinet), Kaitlyn Creekmore (clarinet), Madeleine Lawson (clarinet), Morgan Todd (clarinet), Thomas Conroy (trumpet), Joshua Key (trumpet), Joshua Delfalco (French horn), Rod Morgan (French horn), Jordan Clingenpeel (trombone), Christian Loop (tuba) and Hunter Mollica (tuba).

HVMS 8th Grade Band

The band, conducted by Rick Elliott, performed “Command March,” “Andromeda” and “Chant and Savage Dance.”

Representatives from the band stopped the performance before their last song in order to present conductor Rick Elliott with a gift, which all the members of the band chipped in to buy. Elliott received a cheese ball (“We had to get you something cheesy,” they said.) and a $50 gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse. The Spring Concert was the 8th Grade Band’s last concert with Elliott.

Members of the All District Band are Michael Jacoby (clarinet), Khailah Mickens (clarinet), Hollins Vieth (French horn), Stuart Beveridge (trumpet), Nick Bauer (trombone), Sydney Switzer (trombone), Carl Puuri (baritone), Shane Leigh (percussion) and Adam Wood (percussion).
