Check It Out

Looking for something to do this holiday weekend? See our picks for some fun local events.

Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism events for May

May is water safety month, and it’s only fitting that we have some great events planned, including the season opening of Splash Valley Water Park. Upcoming aquatic events at Green Ridge include:

  • Free Water Safety Lessons – May 11 and 18, 4 p.m.
  • Free Swimming Lesson Day – May 12, 9 a.m. (register at 777-6300)
  • Junior Lifeguard Information – May 22, 4 p.m.
  • Splash Valley Opening Day Party – May 25, all day

You may also want to check out our 4th annual Amazing County Treasure Hunt, which kicks off at 11 a.m. on May 12 at Green Ridge. It’s a FREE geocaching game that lets your family or team use a GPS device to search for hidden “caches” and win great prizes.

Finally, schools are out in just over a month!  Have you signed up for camp yet? We’ve added some new programs to our summer camp lineup.
