Photos: Tim Thornhill visits Bottom Creek Gorge
Tim Thornhill shares these photos from Bottom Creek Gorge and says:
Just beyond Southwest County on Bent Mountain is a great hiking spot–Bottom Creek Gorge. Owned and maintained by the Nature Conservancy, Bottom Creek Gorge Preserve contains the second highest waterfall in Virginia. One trail takes you to the powerful Bottom Creek which helps form the Roanoke River. A second leads to a cliff overlook of the falls. A third wanders through the remains of an old settlement from the 1800′s. For a peaceful hike close to SW county come up Bent Mountain and enjoy the Preserve.
Thanks, Tim!
One of Tim’s photos features Southwest Roanoke County resident Taylor Shirley.
