Cave Spring hosts lacrosse summer clinic
The Cave Spring Rec Foundation hosted a summer lacrosse clinic for girls ages 7 – 17. The clinic was held at Cave Spring High School and run by coaches John Swartz and Ellen Sortore. Cave Spring High School girls and exceptional South County Lacrosse players, Julia Lowen and Sarah Lowen, also assisted in coaching the girls.
This is the fastest growing sport in America, so naturally the clinic attracted veteran players as well as girls brand new to the sport and everyone had a phenomenal time. The coaches focused on cradling, scooping, passing, catching, footwork, proper positioning, and drawing. The sprinkler system made for lots of fun during breaks, too!
Interested eighth- through 12th-graders should contact Dave Lowen at dlowen3@cox.net to play for South County this upcoming season and, with enough players, transition to a Cave Spring Lacrosse team for the 2013-2014 school year.
Interested 7-year-olds through seventh-graders should contact Deena Davis-Musselman at cslaxgirls@cox.net for information on playing at the recreation level.
