Benefits for former Green Valley Elementary teacher battling MS are Sept. 5, 15

Courtesy of Kim Wimmer Benefit

Kim Wimmer was born and raised in Salem, Va. She was a first grade teacher in Roanoke County for 22 years until she had to take early retirement several years after her diagnosis of MS six years ago. Kim is married to another Salem native, Gary Wimmer, and they have one son, Carson. The Wimmer family resides in Roanoke County.

Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 5, for Kim Wimmer Night at Hollywood’s Restaurant and Bakery, located at 7770 Williamson Road in Roanoke from 4 p.m. to close. Ten percent of all sales will go towards the fundraiser.

Then please join us for a benefit concert and fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 15, featuring food, music, friends and more. Green Valley Elementary School will provide the bake sale items.

Performing bands include The Mad Iguanas, The Elderly Brothers, Truckers Delight, The Kings, The Leftovers, The Rhythm Doctors and The Tim Shepherd Band, with a special tribute to Willie Bush.

This benefit is to help offset the medical expenses they have acquired and to help with the purchases of a motorized wheelchair and a specialized handicapped-accessible van that will help keep Kim as active and involved as possible in life. Kim knows better than anyone how to live, love, and laugh, she just needs help now to be able to keep doing that with the people she loves.

Kim has always loved food, travel, music, and people. Her spirit cannot be matched by many. Her goal of always being a good person, wife, mother, and friend still comes first even though she has major medical needs. Please consider this request to help us help her enjoy the independence and mobility that is essential in everyday living.

The benefit on Sept. 15 will be hosted at the Salem Moose Lodge, located at 1409 East Main St. in Salem. Gates open at 11 a.m. Admission for adults is $25, $10 for children ages five through 12 and children under five get free admission.

A limited number of adult tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 at Mac N Bob’s and River Rock. For more information, visit kimwimmerbenefit.weebly.com.
