The second-annual Rosebud Ministry Fundraiser was sponsored by Dr. Nancy Meyer of Chiropractic Wellness. The fundraiser consisted of a barbecue dinner sale at her office location that raised more than $1,000 for the ministry.

“They needed a good location to sell the BBQ, and I was glad to offer my location as it is convenient and easy to get in and out,” said Meyer.

“It is really nice of Dr. Meyer to let us use her facility to hold the BBQ sale again this year,” said Moore.

A portion of the fees collected for the scheduled New Patients during the Rosebud fundraiser was given to the ministry, as well. This Ministry has been assisting the Lakota on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota for 23 years.

Tammy Dillon, who is employed with Meyer, said, “This will be my 10th year going on the mission trip. We donate our labor and use the money raised for the trip expenses and construction supplies. This year we will be adding a new building for the White Eagle Christian Academy, which has outgrown its location in the church building of Christian Life Fellowship on the reservation.”

Ron Shiflett, an engineer, who is the trip leader, project engineer, and BBQ cook, said that at one point they almost sold out and had to get more prepared to sell. That is a great problem to have.

“Yes we slow cook the pork on the grill, pull it off the bone, and cut it up all by hand. That is what makes it taste so good,” said his wife, Audrey, who makes the N.C.-style BBQ sauce herself. Debbie Glass plans the menu for the trip and prepares the homemade coleslaw for the fundraisers. She stated that everyone has a part in this ministry and that they work together as a team.

This year’s trip is Sept. 21-30. For more information about the trip, check out the Rosebud Ministry Facebook page.
