Maria Roman shares these pictures of the Roanoke team “Chuck Norris” from the past season of USTA  Junior Team Tennis. The team, captained by Rob Issem of Southwest County, won their flight against two Blacksburg teams, went on to advance to the district championships in Richmond, and made it to the semifinals.

Players on the team include Andrew Issem (SWCo), Aidan Finucane (SWCo), Izzy Danstrom (SWCo), Meghna Reddy (Salem), Cameron Kelly, Grace Page (SWCo), Bianca Roman (SWCo), Mladin Vukovic (Salem), David Koehler (SWCo), Garrett Walsh (North County), Sam Wilkerson, and Issac Robertson.

The other picture is Roman’s team from Hunting Hills and included the players Dino Economou (SWCo), Lorenzo Roman (SWCo), Shreyas Gulapalli (SWCo), Caroline Lystash, Emmeline Ngyen, Wells Carson, Maya Reddy (Salem), and Delaney Groves.

USTA Junior Team Tennis

Divisions: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U
Season Start: Aug. 18
Season End: Nov. 3
Matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 or 4 p.m.
Teams: Teams consist of boys and girls of all skill levels
Format: 1 boys singles, 1 girls singles, 1 boys doubles, 1 girls doubles and 1 mixed doubles.
