Thunder in the Mountains benefit ride is Aug. 18 at Bent Mountain Fire Department

THUNDER IN THE MOUNTAINS, a benefit ride hosted by the Bent Mountain Chapter of ABATE, will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Bent Mountain Fire Department.

Proceeds will help with expenses for Tim Worrell. Tim has been with Bent Mountain Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years. Tim served as chief for two years and assistant chief for eight years. Tim is currently fighting for his life. He was diagnosed in 2009 with esophageal cancer. This is just a small token of appreciation for all the time that Tim has given to serve and protect our community.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. The group will leave the fire department at 11:30 a.m. and ride to Kanawha Valley, spend approximately two to three hours at that facility, and return to Bent Mountain Fire Department about 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per bike or vehicle and $5 per additional rider.

Activities will include a 50/50 drawing and door prizes donated by local businesses. The rain date for the event is Sept. 8.
