Photos: Hidden Valley cheerleaders host Titan Bingo

Hidden Valley High School Cheerleaders hosted Titan Bingo at HVHS on Saturday, September 8. They had some wonderful prizes including over 100 designer purses. Event organizer Laura Flick sent out e-mails to every purse designer she could think of. Most of the bags came from New York designers. Flick was surprised to learn many of the designers were former cheerleaders themselves or had daughters involved in cheerleading, and were happy to donate, knowing how hard it is to raise funds. Cheer mom, Laura McCarty, said that each cheerleader also donated $10 to purchase more purses.

Tickets were $15 for twenty games of bingo. They also had “Food Bank Bingo,” with an iPad as grand prize. Cheerleader Madison Jessee said people playing in that game donated three cans to the Food Bank or $3.00 in cash.

Rob Agee, last year’s Booster Club President, was there to support his daughter. “I’m always interested in the different fundraisers and pleased by tonight’s turn out”, he said.

Flick said that they exceeded their fundraising expectations. “We’ve raised over $3000 for the cheerleaders and, in addition to the canned food, over $200 in cash for the Food Bank.”

Kym Norman, cheer mom, said that it is important for the girls to do benefits for the community. They chose the Food Bank because it covers all of southwest Virginia and they are always in need. In addition, they were also taking donations for Lindsey Nanz, a fellow Titan who has battled medical problems this past year.
