Roanoke County police investigate Cave Spring murder-suicide
Roanoke County police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place late Wednesday near Cave Spring, authorities said.

Roanoke County Police Investigating Murder/Suicide
• Incident: Murder/Suicide
• Date of Incident: September 19, 2012 Time of Incident: Call received at 8:42 p.m.
• Location of Incident: 5900 block of Sunnycrest Rd.
• Investigating Officer: Roanoke County Police Detective A. Thompson
• Additional Remarks:
Roanoke County police were called to the 5900 block of Sunnycrest Rd. following a report of shots fired Wednesday evening. The call was received by dispatch at 8:42 p.m.
The incident was later determined to be a murder/suicide. Police are not releasing the names of the deceased at this time pending notification of next of kin.
It appears that the male suspect shot the female and then turned the weapon on himself. The man and woman had been boyfriend/girlfriend but were estranged at the time of the incident. Both were deceased when police entered the home.
