Roanoke Valley Music Teachers Association – First Meeting on Sept. 14, 2012

The Roanoke Valley Music Teachers Association held its first meeting of the academic year on September 14, at Grandin Court Baptist Church. Roanoke piano teacher Roma G. Scriven, NCTM, presented a program on national teaching certification through Music Teachers National Association to the group, which included teachers from Roanoke, Salem, Vinton, Lynchburg, Botetourt, and Franklin County. Lynne S. Kessler, NCTM, of Roanoke, and Sarah Reaser O’Brien, NCTM, of Salem, discussed the process of national certification as well. There are six nationally certified music teachers in the Roanoke Valley: Carla A. Fosbre, Kessler, Diane K. Milan, O’Brien, Scriven, and Pamela F. Stump.
