Back Creek Civic League Meeting – Oct. 15 at 7p.m.
The Back Creek Civic League will meet on Monday, October 15 at 7:00 pm at the Back Creek Fire Station, No. 11.
We are taking a break from our usual October “Candidates Night” since we have no Roanoke County positions on the November ballot. We understand there will be two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution on the November ballot. Copies will be handed out at the meeting for your review prior going to the polls.
Roanoke County Police Chief Howard B. Hall has been invited to be our guest speaker. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to meet our new Police Chief and learn of his background in police work and of his plans for ROANOKE COUNTY’S POLICE DEPARTMENT.
We have also asked Bill Kyle, our Neighborhood Watch Coordinator to bring us a report on the status of our Neighborhood Program. ROANOKE COUNTY COMMUNITY POLICING OFFICER ERIC ORANGE has been invited also.
You will also get to meet and hear from Chief Brian Trent, who was recently elected to be the new Chief of Station 11′s Volunteer Firemen.
We plan to work on BACK CREEK HISTORY as a 2013 WINTERTIME PROJECT. Be thinking about the people who lived on your property or on your road many years ago and jot down your thoughts. Look through old pictures to see what you might have to contribute to this history. Talk to older family members. This could be a real treasure once finished.
