Car hits school bus in Hunting Hills, car driver dead
A Roanoke County School bus carrying three special education students was struck by another vehicle about 8 a.m. in the Hunting Hills area. The driver of the other vehicle was killed, authorities say.

Roanoke County Police are investigating a crash that occurred this morning involving a car and school bus. The incident occurred on Hunting Hills Drive just north of the Country Club.
We are still gathering information but this is what we can tell you at this time. There were no serious injuries involving the children or driver of the bus. A student and a bus aid were transported to the hospital for what appeared to be non-serious injuries. UPDATE, 10:03 a.m.: We have since learned that only one person was transported to the hospital – that was the male passenger in the car. No children or bus aides were taken to the hospital.The bus had five people on it. Three special education students, one aid, and the bus driver. The bus was headed to Cave Spring Middle school.
The female driver of the car that collided with the bus was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger in the car was taken to the hospital for what appeared to be serious injuries. Police at the scene say the car (a mid-size four-door vehicle) struck the front of the school bus.
The road will be closed for some time as police investigate the crash. Police have requested help from VDOT to manage traffic in the area.
More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
